Academic Outreach

Academic Outreach is a program designed to help new and existing academic and research staff effectively use the myriad of UOW Library electronic resources and services available from their own desktop.

In a one-to-one tailored consultation in your office, your Faculty Librarian will show you how to:

  • select and effectively search databases including setting up alerts on your research topic,
  • access specialised information sources such as Factiva for newspapers or Libraries Australia for Australia wide material,
  • set up an automatic alert for new material added to the Library Catalogue,
  • submit high demand course material for your subjects,
  • use Document Delivery to request items held in other libraries, and
  • identify and purchase new library resources.

Faculty Librarians also develop resources for your students. View Resources for Assignments and select your faculty/discipline. If appropriate, you might also discuss information skills classes for your students.

Specific resources for researchers and their higher degree research students are also available. The Research Training Librarian focuses on your research and publishing and is able to assist in the following areas:

  • high impact journals,
  • citations including where to publish,
  • measuring research, or
  • patents.

Follow Me Printing

Everyone hates to queue. With this in mind, we have introduced Follow Me Printing. You can choose any free printer/copier in the Library or a printer in the Student Central labs to release your print job.

How does it work?
