Computers in the Library
- Computers are available on all floors of the Library
Conditions of use
- Computers in the Library should be used for study purposes only and in strict accordance with the Rules Governing the Use of IT Facilities.
- Computers in the Library cannot be used to make illegal copies of software applications, data, musical works or any other material protected by copyright.
- Your computer may be offered to someone else if you are not using it for study purposes or if you leave it unattended for more than 10 minutes during peak times (10.00am to 4.00pm, Mon-Fri). If this is done, where possible, we will save a copy of your open documents to a removable media, and pack your belongings. Belongings can be collected from the Loans Desk on the ground floor.
Use the right computer for your needs
- Quick Access: Catalogue, email, database and Internet access. No floppy or CD/DVD drive available.
- Study Access: Catalogue, email, database and Internet access. Full software applications available. Floppy disk and CD drive/burner available.
Input languages available:
- Lab 1 computers:
Korean, Japanese, Chinese (PRC), English (Australia), Arabic (Saudi Arabia), English (US), Farsi, French, Italian, Spanish (Traditional sort), Thai, Urdu. - All other Study Access computers:
Chinese (Taiwan), Korean, Japanese, Chinese (PRC), English (Australia), English (US), Arabic (Saudi Arabia), Arabic (UAE), Catalan, Chinese (Hong Kong SAR), Chinese (Macau SAR), Chinese (Singapore), Czech, Danish, French, German, Greek, Gurati, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Malay, Norwegian, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese.
Tips:
- Computers in Lab 1 require you to login using your UOW username and password. No password is needed for other computers in the Library
- Your UOW email username and password allows you to access the Internet, databases and other resources via the UOW proxy server or EZproxy.
- Network traffic outside of the University is counted against your Internet quota. See your faculty staff about your Internet quota.
- Library Rovers are available to help you between 9.30am to 4.30pm, Mon-Fri.
- Visit the Library outside the peak times of 10.00am to 4.00pm, Mon-Fri, to increase your chance of using our computers.
- Computers are also available in the ITS labs in Building 17 - use the ITS Link on Level 1 of the Library.
Save your work early and often
- Back up your work
- Save your work early and often
- It is YOUR responsibility to save your work: files are automatically deleted from the computer when you log off, and it is not possible to recover them after this time.
- Bring a removable disk or device on which to save your work; e.g. USB memory drives. Copy your file to the desktop from your disk and work with this copy; when finished, do a final save to the desktop, then copy that file back onto your memory drive.

Borrow wireless network cards from Short Loans
- To check wireless card availability, do a search on the Catalogue for "wireless network card" or "library laptop computer".
Laptop computers for loan
- Borrow PC laptops from Short Loans
- Borrow Mac laptops from the Curriculum Resources Centre
Do not leave Library laptops and network cards unattended

Follow Me Printing
Everyone hates to queue. With this in mind, we have introduced Follow Me Printing. You can choose any free printer/copier in the Library or a printer in the Student Central labs to release your print job.
