Document Delivery is a service that obtains material not held by the UOW Library and is needed to support the research, teaching and learning needs of clients.
Who can use the service?
Academic staff, postgraduates (research, coursework and Honours) and general staff with work-related research needs.
Published items not held by the UOW Library including: books, journal articles, conference papers, films and videos etc.
Items that are not usually loaned by other libraries include: whole issues or volumes of journals, rare or fragile material and resources in high demand. It is preferred that recent publications be purchased for the UOW collection. Please suggest an item for purchase.
Theses. Theses can be purchased in digital or print formats.
How much does it cost?
Clients eligible for document delivery services are exempt from costs. Exceptions include when the cost of the request exceeds the normal fee; for example: urgent requests, loans from overseas and theses requests. The cost is debited to you or your department. You will need to complete a payment authorisation form. Document Delivery staff will advise you of any additional charges.

How long will it take?
Most requests are filled within 5-10 days
Urgent requests: articles within 24 hours, other items within 2 working days
If we cannot get the book within Australia, we will ask you if you would like us to continue searching overseas or to purchase the item.
Availability and postage can affect supply times
How is the material delivered?
Most articles are delivered via the Web. You will be notified by email when the document is ready for viewing. Documents are deleted after 5 viewings or 3 weeks. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the documents.
Articles received in print format:
Staff: the articles will be delivered to you via internal mail
Students: the articles will be held at the Lending Desk for you to collect
Items for loan are collected from the Lending Desk. You will be notified by email. Items are held for 7 days only. The loan period for these items is 2 weeks.
